Thumbs up to Preven-tionWorkz Executive Director Tammy Grantz for 15 years of dedication and passionate service.
Grantz is leaving to follow her dream of opening a bed and breakfast.
PreventionWorkz is a regional prevention coordinator for Region 2, which consists of Alfalfa, Garfield, Grant, Logan, Kingfisher and Major counties. Grantz joined PreventionWorkz in 1997 when it was known as Meadowlake Area Prevention Resource Center, as a prevention specialist.
PreventionWorkz will continue to thrive because of the heart and passion Grantz put into her work.
Three sets of thumbs up for Dan Dillingham, Jim Strate and Charles J. West for their recent induction into the Enid Walk of Fame.
Dillingham is a longtime a partner or CEO of Dillingham Insurance, Strate is superintendent at Autry Technology Center and attorney West was president of Waverley Investment Co.
The three honorees were recognized Saturday at the Cherokee Strip Conference Center plaza. Congrats to all three men for their induction.
Did the food shown this week at the Oklahoma State Fair have you salivating? Or did all the rides get your blood flowing?
Thumbs down for the lack of attractions for the recent Garfield County Fair.
Remember the grandeur of yesteryear with exhibits — and people — crowding the Hoover Building and the area under the racetrack grandstands?
Sadly, much of that is lacking now. The Garfield County Fair needs more flair to bolster its anemic attendance. This is frustrating, considering how our county serves as a destination hub for northwest Oklahoma. We deserve a better fair experience.
On a positive note, thumbs up for Enid’s Hoover Elemen-tary School being recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School.
Hoover, in the rare company of six Oklahoma sites selected for the Blue Ribbon list this year, was one of 269 schools nationally named for the 2012 award.
The school’s improved test scores over the past five years secured the award.
Congrats to Hoover and Enid Public Schools for this significant honor.
