Enid,OK — Jane R. Oxford, 86, of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008. She was born March 13, 1922, in Providence Rhode Island, to Amelia (Mazzio) and Ferdinand Votta Sr.

Jane earned her bachelor of science in biology from the University of Rhode Island in 1943. She then chose to work for the United States Navy as an inspector during World War II. In January 1945, Jane married James Leroy Oxford and they began their life together in Norman, Oklahoma.

Jane was a kind and giving person who opened her heart to everyone. She devoted her life to family, church and friends. She enjoyed reading, music, and travel, then, after her children were grown, she discovered her talent in art. Jane has been recognized for her gifts of artwork by the Oklahoma Association of Optometrists, the Oklahoma Historical Society and the Village Christian Church of Oklahoma City.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, James Leroy Oxford, her brother, Ferdinand Votta and wife, Lucille Votta of Kingston, Rhode Island, and her brother-in-law, John Oxford of Ada, Oklahoma.

She is survived by her sister, Florence Taft of Wakefield, Rhode Island, and sister-in-law, Charlotte Oxford of Ada, Oklahoma. She leaves four children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Janelle and Neal Moss of Constantine, Michigan; Roderick and Kimberly Oxford of Katy, Texas, and their children, Kristin, Adam, Patrick and Christopher; Heidi and Joe Glasgow of Enid, and their children, Christina and Jeff; Tara and Paul Savage of Minco, OK, and their children, Lynn Savage and Jason Savage of Minco and grandchildren, Tim, Cortland, Doc and Jude.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today, Dec. 5, 2008, at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel, Oklahoma City.
