Andre N. “Andy” Genereux

WOONSOCKET, RI — Andre N. “Andy” Genereux, 61, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012.

He was the beloved husband for four years of Debra S. (Hays) Genereux.

Born in Woonsocket, Road Island, on June 23, 1951, he was the son of Florence Remillard of Falmouth, Mass., and the late Gerald N. Genereux.

He was the loving father of Carl A. Genereux and his fiancée, Lauren Sollecito of Woonsocket, Andrea N. Richardson and her partner Justin C. Arbuckle of Whitinsville, Mass.; and stepfather of David W. Castle of Alabama, Faith L. Matthews and her husband Charles of Chicago, Ill., and Elizabeth A. Castle of Crossville, Tenn.; and his grandchildren, Jessica Castle of Whitinsville, Mass., and Angel M. Castle of Woonsocket, Rhode Island.

He was the brother of Simone Bileau and her husband Richard of Bellingham, Mass., Jeanne C. Genereux and her husband John Sangermano of Stow, Mass. He also leaves his father-in law, Bob Hays and wife Sondra of Enid, Okla., and his mother-in-law, Deloris (Green) Battin and her husband Bill of Kansas City, Mo.; and his former wife, Cathy (Gaudini) Genereux of Franklin, Mass.

A resident of Woonsocket, formerly of Bellingham, Mass., where he was raised, he was a graduate of Mount St. Charles Academy Class of 1969, and a graduate of Providence College, receiving a chemistry masters class of 1975.

Andy retired as a lieutenant from the Bellingham Fire Department in 2001, where he was appointed lieutenant in 1994; in 1990, was appointed EMS Coordinator; and in 1976, was certified EMT.  

He was a member of Millerville Mens Club and a member of the Monday Night Cribbage League, an avid weather fan and member of the Weather Fun Group, an avid bowler and member of the Saturday Bowling League. He also enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing.

Devoted to his family and friends, he will be greatly missed.

Funeral will be held on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at 9 a.m. from Cartier’s Funeral Home, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA, with Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Blaise Church, 1158 So. Main St., Bellingham. Visiting hours are on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
