ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for Darrell D. Hankey, of Amorita, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Riverside Church of Christ in Burlington, Okla. Ray Hull of Waynoka and Jeffrey Keele of Burlington will officiate. Burial will be in Byron-Amorita Cemetery under the direction of the Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Cherokee. Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Remembrances may be shared at www.lan manmemorials.com.

Darrell was born Aug. 9, 1932, and departed this life to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2013.

He was born and raised on the family farm, northeast of Amorita, to Floyd and Bertha Alexander Hankey.

Darrell attended school in Amorita, graduating in 1950.

On Nov. 14, 1953, he married Verla Smith at her parents’ home, northeast of Amorita. They were united in marriage by Minister Hartsell Johnson.

In 1953, Darrell was drafted into the service and left for the Army on Dec. 1, 1953, which was Verla’s birthday.

In May 1954, after high school graduation, she joined Darrell in Fairbanks, Alaska, where they spent their next year of marriage.

In August 1955, when Rick was six weeks old, they returned from Alaska to the Amorita area to help with her dad’s farming operation.

In August 1957, shortly after Darrell was dismissed from the army, Dale was born in Cherokee, Okla.

Darrell lived and farmed northeast of Amorita until his retirement. In November 2011, he decided to reside at the Kiowa District Manor in Kiowa, Kan. Darrell enjoyed his time at the manor and was a wonderful friend to all the residents and staff.

Darrell was a devoted farmer and loved the outdoors. He always had a kind and compassionate word for everyone and was always ready to tell the good news of Jesus, whether through teaching Bible classes or personal bible study. He was a member of Amorita Church of Christ and the Burlington Church of Christ. He served on the Byron-Amorita Cemetery Board, the USDA Community ASC Committee and was a Burlington FFA honorary chapter member.

He is survived by two sons, Rick Hankey and wife Beverly of Amorita, Okla., and Dale Hankey and wife Patty of Burlington, Okla.; and three grandchildren, Lindsey Callison and husband Kyle of Byron, Okla., Seth Hankey of Amorita, Okla., and Trevor Hankey of Burlington, Okla. He is also survived by two sisters, Rowena Grigg and Janet McCafferty; and a host of friends and family.

Those preceding him in death were his wife, Verla Hankey; his brother, Ray Dean Hankey; and his parents.

Floyd 'Ty' Lytle II
A memorial service for Floyd “Ty” Wayne Lytle II, age 53, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Addison (JR) Ools officiating.
Ty was born to Kenneth Wayne and Mary Bess (Spencer) Lytle on May 22, 1960, in North Kansas City, Mo., and died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at his home in Enid.

Douglas Lloyd Champlin
Douglas Lloyd Champlin of Gardnerville, Nev., died peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2013, in Scottsdale, Ariz., after a brief illness of cancer. He was born Jan. 9, 1941, in Enid, Okla., to Joe Noble and Jane Edwards Champlin.
He is survived by his wife, Laurel Raether Champlin; daughter, Christa Hampton and husband Cobey of Cave Creek, Ariz.; daughter, Claire Woolsey and husband Cole of Reno, Nev., and Cassidy Champlin of the home; six grandchildren; sister, Joanna M. Champlin and husband Shawnee Brittan of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends all over the world.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and beloved brother, H.H. “Bud” Champlin, formerly of Enid, Okla.
As a young boy growing up in Enid, Okla., Doug developed a love for history and the military. He became a collector at a young age of toy soldiers, guns, and just about anything he could get his hands on related to history.

Harold was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Bessie, Okla., to Henry K. and Frieda (Froese) Jantzen and died Sunday, May 19, 2013 in Newton, Kan. After graduating high school he attended Grace Bible Intitute and the Bethel College. He then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he obtained his master’s degree. He then earned a specialist’s degree from Emporia College.

James was born Sept. 5, 1951, in Fairview and died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at home.
Surviving are two daughters, Margo (Chris) Kesinger of Tonkawa, and Francine (Sheldon) Wedel of Pilot Oak; one sister, Judy Dillard of Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Evie was born Oct. 24, 1940, in Mott, N.D., to Joe and Anna (Mayer) Miller and died May 21, 2013 in Enid.
She is survived by sons, Ivan, Sherlem, and Allan Zimbelman; daughters, Sharon Woods and Shelley Rauh; brothers, Harvey Miller and Dennis Miller; and one grandson, J.R. Zimbelman.
