ENID, Okla. —
Mass of Christian burial for Henry A. Kokojan, 87, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at St. Francis’ Catholic Church, Enid, Okla. Father Rajesh Mankena officiating.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Hennessey, under the direction of Henninger Hinson Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Henry was born Sept. 27, 1925, in an Enid hospital to Anton F. Kokojan and Minnie Brauner Kokojan. He died Saturday, March 16, 2013, in Irving, TX.
He attended school at Pleasant Valley District 106 (a one room schoolhouse), Bison, Shawnee and Stillwater.
He served during WWII in combat with the 77th Infantry Division. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his actions during the Battle in Okinawa. He spent several more years on the farm and then worked as a motion picture cameraman on feature films. Later, he was employed as an NBC cameraman, traveling the world and reporting the news with some of the most distinguished broadcasting professionals of our time. Henry was highly respected in his field. Throughout his career, he always made his home in the Dallas area.
Surviving are one son and a daughter: Lawrence Kokojan of Euless, Texas, and Teresa Kokojan of Denton, Texas. He also is survived by 10 grandchildren. His brother, Wilfrid, is residing on the homestead, southwest of Waukomis.
He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Kokojan; his daughter, Kathy Norman; his parents and one brother, Herman.
