MARY J. YOUNG

The funeral for Mary J. Young, 79, will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Waukomis Baptist Church. The Rev. Danny Marney will officiate. Burial will be in Waukomis Cemetery. Arrangements are by Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

She was born July 17, 1928, in Somerset, Kan. to Joe and Emma Thomas Ingram, and died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, in Greenbrier Nursing Home.

She married Ralph E. Young Sept. 23, 1946. The couple moved to Enid in 1961 and later settled in Waukomis. She was a member of Waukomis Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Bright and Kathy Mattke, both of Enid; three sons, Ralph L. Young, Terry D. Young, Jerry T. Young, all of Waukomis; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, one son, one granddaughter, one grandson, one great-grandson, one sister, and one brother.

WILLIAM E. ‘BILL’ JOHNSON

Mass of Christian Burial for William E. “Bill” Johnson will be Noon Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Rev. Ernest Flusche will officiate. The Wake service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Tony Crispo, deacon, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

He was born May 27, 1928, in Enid, to Boyd and Emma Wheeler Johnson.

He attended Enid schools and graduated from Enid High in 1946. He married Geraldine Hathoot Feb. 3, 1952. He served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. After returning from Korea he attended Phillips University.

He worked for S&Q Clothiers for 35 years and was employed there until they closed. He retired from Gary Hulse in 1999. He helped with Our Daily Bread after retirement. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Veteran’s of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are his wife Geraldine, of the home; one son, William A. “Bill” Johnson of Enid; one sister, Evelyn Lindsey of Edmond; and one brother, Riley Eugene Johnson of Enid.

DOROTHY JOANNE BIGGERS

A graveside service for Dorothy Joanne Biggers, 78, of Drummond was held Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, in Lone Wolf Cemetery. Jim Hilton, pastor, officiated. Arrangements were by People’s Co-operative Funeral Home of Lone Wolf.

She was born Jan. 2, 1929, in Chattanooga, to Rosalie Donaldson and Joseph Simon and died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at her home in Drummond.

She grew up and attended Hobart Schools, graduating in 1947. She worked for Southwest Bell Telephone Company as an operator in Hobart. She married W.R. “Pete” Biggers May 12, 1948, in Wellington, Texas. They moved to Enid in 2001. He died in 2004. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Mike Biggers of Lahoma and Joe Biggers of Lawton; one sister, Sue Holbrook of Hobart; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.



LOUIS A. ‘POPEYE’ MARTIN

The funeral for Louis A. “Popeye” Martin, 72, of Attica, Kan. will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Memorial Building, Attica, Kan. Paul Harbaugh and Chet Rugg will officiate. Burial will be in Attica Cemetery, Attica. Arrangements are by Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Harper, Kan. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 19, 1934, in Alfalfa County, to Art and Josephine Sutton Martin, and died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, in Attica.

He retired from Harper County Road and Bridge Department. He married Theresa Mader Sept. 2, 1998, in Attica.

Surviving are his wife, Theresa Martin of Attica; two sons, Scott Martin of St. Louis and Sam Martin of Neosho, Mo.; three daughters, Cinda Moore of Harper, Kan., Christa Manning of Silver Lake, Kan., and Dusty Pfaff of Anthony, Kan.; four stepchildren, Janet Cook of Hardtner, Kan., Vickie Albright of Harper, Kan,, Kayan Tompkinson of Attica, Kan. and Ronnie Domnick of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Devota “DeDe” Williams of Burlington; 25 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothres and one sister.

The funeral for Irma Lois Jett, 82, of Slapout, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview United Methodist Church, Slapout Community, southwest of Laverne. Bill Long, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Follet,Texas. Arrangements are by Myatt Funeral Home, Laverne. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

She was born Oct. 19, 1925, in Speeremoore, southwest of Laverne, to Floyd LeRoy and Dora Mae Wells Bentley, and died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, in Coon Memorial Hospital, Dalhart, Texas.

She attended Speeremoore Country School and graduated from Laverne High School in 1945. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Beaver County Home Demonstration Club. She married Calvin Verl Jett March 31, 1946, in Laverne.

Surviving are her husband Calvin, of the home; one son, Alan Jett of Laverne; two daughters, Reta Sue Hoover of Booker and Linda Lou Johnson of Boise City; one brother, Carl D. Bentley of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Eunice Dull of Bartlesville and Fae Owens of Enid; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.

EDITH DELAIN BUSH PEIL

The funeral for Edith Delain Bush Peil, 75, of Darrouzett, Texas will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Darrouzett. Dan Carter, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Darrouzett Cemetery. Arrangements are by Mason Funeral Home, Shattuck.

She was born Feb. 9, 1932, to Henry and Lillie Nichols Bush, and died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, in Newman Memorial Hospital, Shattuck.

She attended and graduated from Shattuck High School and attended Woodward Vo-Tech School of Nursing.

Surviving are one son, William Peil; three daughters, Sandra Somaiah, Samara Barber and Jo Unrein; two sisters, Henrietta Ehrlich and Roy Marie Cross; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Peil.



STELLA IRENE BULLARD

A memorial service for Stella Irene Bullard, 87, will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church of Medford. The Rev. Craig VanDeburgh will officiate. Private inurnment will be later. Arrangements are by Hills-Ely Funeral Home, Medford. Guests may sign the memorial book at the funeral home 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

She was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Lambert to Irene and Ezra Ray Lansdown, and died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, in Enid.

She graduated from high school in Burbank. She attended Shawnee Baptist College and graduated from Northwestern State Teachers College in Alva. She married Clyde Francis Bullard March 21, 1942, in Wichita, Kan. She taught school in Mullinville, Kan. for one year. Later they joined Globe Aircraft Corporation and worked at defense plants in Fort Smith, Ark. and later Fort Worth, Texas. They moved to Hawaii in 1944 and she installed radios in bombers. In 1946 they returned to Oklahoma and purchased the Rush Springs Gazette. She received her elementary teaching certificate from Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She taught in three Grady County Schools in the 1950’s. In 1960 they purchased the Ellis Review in Ellis, Kan. She taught in Ellis for nine years. They returned to Medford in 1970 and bought the Medford Patriot Star and Grant County Journal. Later they owned the Pond Creek Herald. She taught at Medford for 13 years. She retired as an elementary school coordinator.

They sold the newspapers in 1980 and spent summers in Del Norte, Colo. In 2004, they moved to Golden Oaks Retirement Center in Enid.

Surviving are one son, Joe Bullard of Lakewood, Colo.; three brothers, Paul Lansdown of Enid, John Lansdown of Ponca City, Joe Lansdown of Alva; one sister, Laura May Tolle of Geary; and one granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; 10 brothers and two sisters.

HALSEY H. LONG

Halsey H. Long, 87, of Garber, Oklahoma, was the son of Charles Walter and Jennie Irene (Hogan) Long. He was born on July 25, 1920, in Wakita, Oklahoma, and died Saturday, November 10, 2007, in Greenbrier Nursing Home in Enid, Oklahoma.

T/Sgt. Long served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Force from December 1941 to April 1945. He served during World War II.

After returning home from the war in 1945, he married Betty Jo Milton in Kansas.

Halsey owned and operated Halsey Long Ford in Garber, Oklahoma, for over 50 years. He also owned and operated HHL Development, an oil and gas company. Halsey enjoyed farming and spending time with his family and friends.

He had served on the Garber School Board, was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the First Christian Church in Garber.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at the Garber Christian Church. Rev. Harold Shore will officiate. Burial will be in Garber Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home in Garber, Oklahoma.

Halsey is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Long; one son, Tracy Long of Garber, Oklahoma; two daughters, Debbie Long Hays of Hennessey, Oklahoma, and Leslie Long McIntire of Grapevine, Texas; seven grandchildren, Brandon Hays of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Lara Koch of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Haley Long of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Ryan Long of Garber, Oklahoma, Lauren McIntire, Kaelen McIntire and Luke McIntire, all of Grapevine, Texas; one great-grandchild, Abie Koch of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother, Charles William Long of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas; two sisters, Clare Mae Cameron of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Bettye Jean Calmes of Cedar Park, Texas; and one stepson, Terry Weber of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jon Long; his parents, Charles and Jennie Long; one brother, Russell Long; and one stepgrandson, Jeff Weber.

MARCELLE E. VCULEK

A prayer vigil for Marcelle E. Vculek, 88, will be 7 p.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at St. Joseph’s officiated by Rev. Roberto Quant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Hennessey, under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey.

Marcelle was born in Roff on January 12, 1919, to Dee Roy and Jennie Cook Dugger and died Saturday, November 10, 2007, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid.

She married Albert A. Vculek in Enid on October 30, 1944.

Marcelle is survived by one son, Al and wife Kristi of Waukomis; one daughter, Janetta Vculek and her friend Pat Dowers of Moore; four brothers; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Marcelle was preceded in death by her husband Albert, three brothers and two sisters.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to Hospice Circle of Love with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.

NADEAN LOUISE KIRBY ROBISON

The funeral for Nadean Louise Kirby Robison, 76, will be held today at 2 p.m. at Oakwood Christian Church, Enid. Alan Seibel will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Nadean was born on a farm west of Lamont on August 8, 1931, to Ray Kirby and Dorothy Metcalf Kirby and passed from this life on Saturday, November 10, 2007, at her home after a valiant battle with COPD. She was a member of Oakwood Christian Church.

Nadean attended grade school at Rich Valley and Banner Country Schools. She graduated from Lamont High School in 1949. Nadean attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa before marrying the love of her life, Orie Dean Robison, on August 20, 1950. They farmed in the Salt Fork and Hunter area and moved to Enid in 1955. Nadean was an amazing homemaker, seamstress, cook, supportive wife, loving mother and grandmother. After her children entered college, she worked at the Phillips University Bookstore and Nifty Needle. Nadean was a member of Zeta Rho and Casa La Mia Home and Community Extension Club.

Orie and Nadean are proud parents of Kathy Robison Cole and husband Tom Cole, of Wichita, Kansas, and Mike Robison and his wife Donna Robison of Ringwood, Oklahoma; and grandparents of Kirstie Cole of Dallas, Texas, Thomas (TC) Cole of Seal Beach, California, Jared Robison of Seal Beach, California, and Toby Robison of Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Surviving are her husband; children; grandchildren; sisters, Donna Jean Tebow and her husband Dwaine of Lamont, Barbara Duvall and her husband Jack of Highland Ranch, Colo., Marilyn Goforth and her husband Arlie of Perry, and brother, Gary Kirby and his wife Barbara of Owasso, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, COPD division, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
