AUGUSTA ELLEN COX

The funeral for Augusta Ellen Cox, 81, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Driftwood Christian Church. The Rev. Chet Mendenhall will officiate. Burial will be in Manchester Cemetery. Arrangements are by Goodwin Funeral Home, Cherokee. Viewing will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and at the church from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday. The family will gather at Manchester Community Center after the funeral.

She was born April 25, 1926, near Manchester to Oswald and Sarah McClaflin Hess and died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, in Coldwater, Kan.

She graduated from Amorita High School. She married Ralph Cox April 28, 1957. He died Dec. 26, 1996. She moved to Pioneer Lodge in Coldwater in January 2004. She attended Byron Christian Church and Driftwood Christian Church.

Surviving are three brothers, Armister Hess of Fort Smith, Ark., Emil C. Hess of Owasso and Glenn Hess of Coldwater.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Pioneer Lodge Nursing Home.



URAI STAPLES

The funeral for Urai Staples, 64, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, Kan.. Burial will be in Collyer, Kan., Cemetery. Arrange-ments are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Visitation and viewing will be 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

She was born in Ubon, Thailand, March 10, 1943, and died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at her home.

She was a healthcaregiver at Northern Resource Center, Enid for 18 years, from which she retired. She was a Mary Kay consultant in this area for many years.

Surviving are one son, Tommy Staples of WaKeeney; one daughter, Anna Maria Rice; her fiance, Timothy Sithara, of the home; and three grandsons.

At the family’s request, floral gifts are requested in the colors of purple and red. The family will be at her home at 721 West Elm.

The funeral for Jeralean Jean Keown Sparks, 73, of Pond Creek, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Pond Creek. The Revs. Ronnie Hopkins and Cameron Moles will officiate. Burial will be in Pond Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

She was born March 17, 1934, in Syracuse, Kan., to Larkin and Eunice Bowers Keown and died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, in Enid.

She graduated from Pond Creek schools. She graduated from business school and worked as a secretary in the oil industry and retired as office manager for Water Consultants in Oklahoma City. She married Donald Sparks April 26, 1996, in Branson, Mo. She was a lifetime member of First Christian Church, Pond Creek.

Surviving are her husband Donald Sparks, of Pond Creek; her children, Roger D. Sparks and Robert H. Sparks, both of Pond Creek; and Angela D. Moles of Vienna, Mo.; one sister, Donnalea Haynes of Andover, Kan.; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother and one daughter.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to First Christian Church or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, cancer division.
