BEN A. BOREN

The funeral for Ben A. Boren, 78, of Booker, Texas, formerly of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Booker United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery, Booker. Arrange-ments are by Johnson’s Good Samaritan Funeral Service, Booker. Viewing will be at the funeral home only.

He was born July 6, 1927, in Claremore to Wilford Carl and Minta Lavina Phillips Boren and died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at Ochiltree General Hospital, Perryton, Texas.

He graduated from Claremore High School and then served in the Navy at the close of World War II. He then enrolled at the University of Oklahoma receiving his bachelor of art degree in journalism in 1950.

He married Clara May Crusinbery March 1, 1951, at Alva. They moved to Seiling where he began publishing the Seiling newspaper. In 1960, he became sports editor for the Enid Morning News and Eagle. In 1970, they moved to Booker, Texas, after purchasing the Booker News. They retired in 1996. He received many awards from both the Panhandle and Texas Press Association.

He was a member of Booker Booster Club, Kiowa Club and Booker United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Clara May of the home; one daughter, Kathryn of Lubbock, Texas; two sons, Thomas of Aline and Don of Borger, Texas; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

MACK MIZE, JR.

A family graveside service for Mack Mize Jr., 87 of Houston will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mont Meta, Rio Hondo, Texas. Arrangements are by The Settegast-Kopf Co. Funeral Directory, Houston.

He was born March 20, 1918, in Rio Honda, Texas, to Gertrude Carpenter and Mack Mize and died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at Houston.

He married Sara Wiliams in 1936 and completed his undergraduate studies at John Tarlton Military Academy, Stephenville, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1939 with a degree in business. He moved his family to Corpus Christi, Texas, beginning a career as an oil company accountant. They later moved to Enid, where he worked for Champlin Petroleum Co. until his retirement in 1982. They returned to Texas in 2000.

Surviving are his wife, Sara of the home; one daughter, Lisa Brower; three sons, Don, Steve and Jamie; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

JOHNNIE MAE FREED

The funeral for Johnnie Mae Freed, 70, of Vici will be Tuesday at First Christian Church, Vici. Arrangements are by Shaw Funeral Home, Vici.

She was born Aug. 18, 1935, east of Vici to John and Nettie Logsdon and died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at her home.

She married Robert N. Moore in 1952 at Vici. She later married Merlin D. Freed in July 1976.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Vici, where she was a children’s Sunday school teacher.

Surviving are her husband, Merlin of the home; sons Rex Lynn Moore of Fairview and Michael Freed of Santa Fe, N.M; daughters Gayle Scott of Palmer, Texas, and Cindy Trick and Michelle Momper, both of Fishers, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, and one brother.

CORKY NOTEWARE

The funeral for Corky Noteware, 77, of Garber will be 2 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Garber. The Rev. Joseph Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Garber Cemetery. Arrange-ments are by Dugger Funeral Home, Garber.

He was born Nov. 22, 1927, north of Garber to Fred and Nora Peetom Noteware and died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at his home.

He married Glenda Morse July 20, 1954, in Eureka Springs, Ark. They made their home southeast of Garber for 37 years. They moved to Garber in 1991. They operated Garber Package Store until their retirement in 1995. She died Feb. 21, 2005.

He served in the Army, and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Garber.

Surviving are four daughters, Mary Wolf of Sun Lakes, Ariz., Linda Cinnamon and Judy Collins, both of Garber, and Debbie Hayton of Billings; one sister, Frances Sheffer of Longmont, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Glenda, he was preceded in death by two brothers.

PATSY LORENE TESKE

The funeral for Patsy Lorene Banks Teske, 62, of Enid will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Dan Barrick will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrange-ments are by Ander-son-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born June 12, 1943, in Dalhart, Texas, to Joseph Vancy and Emma Alice Broomhall Banks and died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at her home.

She graduated from Alva High School. She attended beauty college and was a cosmetologist for 32 years. She owned and operated her own salon in Waynoka, then worked at Methodist Home several years.

She married Ervan L. Teske June 12, 1992. They made their home in Enid.

She was a member of First Assembly of God Church, and Enid Lighthouse Aglow International for 13 years, serving as president and vice president.

Surviving are two sons, Terry Teske of Kingfisher and Dr. Tim Teske of Enid; one daughter, Sherri West of Enid; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter and one granddaughter.

HELEN NORTON

A memorial service for Helen Norton, 85, of Helena will be 2 p.m. today at First Christian Church, Helena. The Rev. Jay Drawbridge will officiate. At her request she will be cremated. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena. Viewing will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born Jan. 10, 1920, north of Carmen to Fred and Bessie Holmden Buck and died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at Cherokee Manor Nursing Home.

She attended country schools in Carmen and Aline and high school at Freedom.

She married Keith Eldon Norton July 3, 1940, in Carmen. They lived northeast of Helena and south of Lambert before moving east of Carmen. He died May 18, 2003.

She worked as a cook for Helena School and was manager for the canteen at Helena Boys School. She was a member of First Christian Church, Helena, serving as a deaconess, Order of Eastern Star, Green Plain Club, and Friendly “ B” Pitch Club.

Surviving are daughters, Roberta Davis of Helena and Flora Mae Roszel of Skiatook; three brothers, Joe Buck, Billy Buck and Freddy Buck, all of Cherokee; one sister, Jean Hague of Cherokee; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Keith, she was preceded in death by one son, one brother and one sister.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Helena Christian Church Building Fund.

DOROTHY EARL GRIMES

The funeral for Dorothy Earl Grimes, 82, will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2005, at the First Christian Church, officiated by Jimmy Berkenbile and L. D. Choate. Burial will follow at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

She was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 5, 1922, to Earl and Dollie Alexander and passed from this earth Satur-day, Nov. 12, 2005, at Hennessey Care Center.

She married Don Ivan Grimes in Mesa, Arizona on January 19, 1942.

Dorothy was a member of the First Christian Church, the Willing Workers Club, the Christian Women’s Fellowship, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She also was a Sunday School Teacher at First Christian Church.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Don Ivan Grimes of the home; one son, Charles “ Chuck” Grimes and wife Beverly of Hennessey; two daughters, Sharon Goodwin and husband Glen of Enid, and Deana Titus and husband Tim of Stillwater; grandchildren, Rod Goodwin of Enid, Derek Grimes and wife Kathy of the Azores, Stacy Cline and husband Perry of Hennessey, Jeremy and wife Amy Seiger of Red Oak, Texas, Jenny Grimes of Oklahoma City, Joshua and wife Alicia Seiger of Hennessey; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Cole, Dylan and Austin Grimes; Ty and Charlie Cline; Garrett Seiger; Libby, Lanny Jo, Dusty and Audry B. Seiger; one sister, Ollie Troyer and husband Leo of Hennessey and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Dollie Alexander and mom Pearl Alexander.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to the First Christian Church or Hennessey Senior Citizens Center through the funeral home.

DONALD GENE CLOVER

The funeral for Donald Gene Clover, 55, of Jefferson, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Breckin-ridge. Rev. Arthur McCormick will officiate. Burial will be in the Breckinridge Lutheran Cemetery at 10 a.m. Arrange-ments are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.

Don was born December 6, 1949, in Enid, OK, and died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at his home in Jefferson with family and friends at his side. He was the son of Homer L. and Dorothy Meier Clover and was a graduate of Enid High School.

Don married Joyce G. Palmer on April 23, 1971. They made their home in Enid, moving to Breckinridge soon after. In 1977, they moved to Pond Creek. They made their home in Jefferson in 1989.

Don was employed by USDA-NRCS as a soil conservation technician for 35 years, serving at the Garfield and Grant County Field Offices. He served as trustee for the town of Jefferson and was a member of the Moose Lodge of Enid. Don also served as vice president of the Oklahoma Centennial Chisholm Trail Cattle Drive Association and a member of the Pond Creek-Hunter Young Farmers, Quail Unlimited, National Rifle Association, and the American Chuck-wagon Association. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, riding his horses, competing in chuckwagon cookoffs, and playing washers with family and friends.

Don is survived by his wife Joyce G. Clover of Jefferson, daughter Mardeene and husband Glen Huschka of Dickinson, N.D., son Michael and wife Krista Clover, grandson Jacob Clover of Chandler, OK, his mother Dorothy and stepfather Ralph Eddington of Enid, brother Jack Clover of Carmen, OK, and sisters Connie Woolman of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Wanda Dempewolf of Blanchard, Ok, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Clover of Enid.

Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Centennial Chisholm Trail Cattle Drive Association, Rt. 2, Box 46, Medford, OK 73759, Hospice Circle of Love, or the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Fund.

MILDRED L. ARNOLD

Funeral services for Mildred L. Arnold will be held Monday, November, 14, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Matt Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

Mildred was born May 2, 1920, on a farm north of Enid, to Lester and Mary L. Goddard and died November 10, 2005. Except for two years, when she lived in the Garber-Covington Oil Field, where her father worked, she lived in Enid, and attended Enid Schools, graduating from Enid High School in 1937.

She married Robert Earl Arnold on August 11, 1940, and they were parents of two children, Dr. Robert E. “Buddy” Arnold, Jr. and Sharon Ann “Penny” Bishop Nunley.

She was a resident at the Methodist Home at the time of her death.

Mildred had retired from the Department of Human Services after 25 years, but continued her work years at the Garfield County Juvenile Office and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

She and her husband were one of four couples who organized the Sooner Sunday School Class at Central Christian Church, where she was named Mother of the Year in 1992. The Class grew to an active membership of 150.

She was always active in her children’s schools and served as president of the Enid Parent-Teacher Council, of Enid.

She was a member of the Credit Women Club, Sooner Sunday School Class of Central Christian Church, Mary Briggs Lioness Club, and the First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1975, her parents, and three brothers, Chester, Paul, and Merle.

She leaves her children; four grandchildren, Joceline Arnold, Jeffrey Bishop, Wade Arnold, and Shawn Bishop; two great-grandchildren, Sage Austin Arnold and Emily Marie Arnold; nephews, Tim Goddard of Houston, Texas and Joe Goddard of Oklahoma City; and a niece, Rhio Goddard of Dallas, Texas.

Memorials may be made to the Enid Public Library and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program with Henninger-Allen serving as custodians to the fund.
