Marvin Culver was a great man. He was born in Enid, Oklahoma, March 10, 1948, to Betty and the late James Culver. He grew up and graduated high school in Enid. Marvin then attended Phillips University and eventually graduated from the University of Tulsa with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He worked as police officer in Enid after graduation. In 1973, he became an Oklahoma Highway Patrolman. He served the state of Oklahoma for over 30 years. He passed away peacefully January 12, 2012.

What you just read was the vital statistics of Marvin Culver’s life. What it wasn’t was the important things. Marvin had children. He has a son, Richard Shaun Culver. Marvin also has triplet daughters, Libbie LeClaire, Susie and Annie Culver. On October 19th, 1981, Marvin married the love of his life, Lyndall Stephens. And they were happy. For 30 years, they were very happy. Marvin was also a grandfather. He has nine grandchildren. He had a brother, Duane Culver, and his wife, Charlotte, and their son, Kyle, was his nephew.

Marvin was my second father. I am Christina McMahan, and Marvin was my uncle. He helped raise my brother, Dylan, and I.

The lives of everyone listed were touched significantly by Marvin. But that’s not the whole story either. Marvin Culver touched the lives of everyone he met. He was funny. Everywhere he went people laughed. And his cards. Marvin made the best cards. Receiving one was like getting a Christmas present. Every single time.

He will always be remembered.
