Burlin Leroy Holland

Published 1-13-13

ENID — Burlin Leroy Holland, born September 15, 1929, passed away at home January 8, 2013. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Dan O’Daniel will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Burlin was born in Laverne, Oklahoma, but spent his childhood in Freedom, Enid and Arapaho, OK, until joining the military at 16. His military career gave him the opportunity to travel the world and study martial arts, eventually earning a third-degree black belt in Aikido. After serving 24 years in the military, he retired and continued his travels.

He loved horses and traveled many miles across the United States on horseback. During his travels, he met and married his life partner, Deloris. They started their family in Enid, OK, where Burlin worked in the oil field industry until his retirement in 1995.

He liked to fish and loved to laugh, finding humor in the simplest of things. He was a true environmentalist and an avid recycler, as he found treasure in the possessions others found to be worthless. He valued the memories he made through all of his travels and life experiences. He loved his pictures, as they were his window to those memories. He was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

Burlin was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, one child and one grandchild.

He is survived by seven children, 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love. Condolences may be sent to www.ladusauevans.com.
