WAUKOMIS — Funeral for Mr. Royce Dean Baker, 83, of Waukomis, will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013, at United Methodist Church in Waukomis. Pastor Garry Vincent will officiate. Burial will follow in Waukomis Cemetery under direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. The family will receive guests 2-4 p.m. today, February 3, at the funeral home.

Royce was born on the Baker family farm in rural Waukomis, OK, November 27, 1929.

As a youth, he attended Morning Star School and Waukomis High School.

Following his graduation, he served with the U.S. Army in Germany during the years of 1953 and 1954. As a civilian, he worked as a dispatcher for Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Troop J, Enid, OK, for 291⁄2 years. Royce also farmed and raised cattle on land that is now recognized as a Centennial Farm by the state of Oklahoma.

In 1951, Royce and Elizabeth Brown were united in marriage, and she survives. Additional survivors are their three sons, Wayne and wife Gwenda Baker, Gary Baker, Tony and wife Miranda Baker; six grandsons, Shaun and wife Jessica Baker, Brian Baker, Kyle and wife Jacey Baker, Trent Baker, Nathan Baker, Caleb Baker; one granddaughter, Madison Crenshaw and husband Stuart Crenshaw; and 2 great-granddaughters, Makenna Crenshaw and Juliette Baker. Royce’s only sibling, Jim, and his wife, Rosa, also survive.

Memorials may be made to charity of choice or Waukomis United Methodist Church, with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds. Condolences may be made at Brown-Cummings.com.
