ENID, Okla. —
Caitlin Kay Bryan was born Oct. 28, 1993, in Oklahoma City and left this life on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at her home in Enid, following complications from epileptic seizures that she had been battling the last two years.
Caitlin was adopted by Mark and Bonnie Bryan on Nov. 4, 1993, and the day they drove to Oklahoma City to pick her up is one of their most cherished memories.
Caitlin sought fun in everything she did in life, whether it be sticking her head in a freezing mountain stream, consuming an entire pizza, or being duct taped to the wall by her friends at Northwestern.
She loved her monkey hat, broccoli, Mountain Dew, sketching, Tegan and Sara, her close relationship with her brother Tanner, and all things music.
The clarinet and bari-sax were her instruments of choice, and she’d recently taken up the guitar. She was a proud, self-proclaimed band nerd at Enid High School before graduating in 2012, and was about to finish her freshman year at Northwestern in Alva, where she was majoring in music education.
Anyone who knew Caitlin would probably describe her as being unique, special, or her own person. She thrived on that, and enjoyed standing out from the crowd.
You would never catch Caitlin in a dress, but you would always catch her with a goofy smile on her face. She deeply believed in love and acceptance of all people, regardless of their gender, religion, race, or sexual orientation.
One of her biggest gifts to the world was not only practicing those beliefs, but encouraging others to practice them as well.
Caitlin’s celebration of life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Central Christian Church in Enid. Rev. John McLemore and Dr. M. Eugene Boring, Caitlin’s grandfather, will officiate.
Viewing will be today, March 22, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Saturday morning, March 23. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Caitlin is survived by her parents, Mark and Bonnie Bryan; brother, Tanner Bryan of Stillwater, Okla.; maternal grandparents, M. Eugene and Karen Boring of Fort Worth, Texas; paternal grandmother, Delores Bryan of Raymore, Mo.; eight aunts and uncles; and 10 beloved cousins. We all love you, Caity Kay!
Memorials may be made to Enid High School Band Booster Club.
Condolences may be made online at www.Ladusauevans.com.
