Jared Spencer received his Boy Scout Eagle rank on Nov. 20, 2012. His Court of Honor will be 4 p.m. Saturday at North Garland Church of Christ, 703 N. Garland.
Spencer, of Troop 29, received the organization’s highest honor by becoming an Eagle Scout. The last part of the Eagle rank is leading an Eagle Scout Project.
For his project, Spencer worked on the track and field pole vault area at Oklahoma Bible Academy. Spencer developed and built an anchor system for keeping in place the landing pads at the pole vault pit.
His involvement with scouting began in the first grade as a Tiger Cub and continued in Cub Scouts through Webelos and the Arrow of Light award. He was in Cub Scouts in Pack 29 at Emmanuel Christian School.
In Boy Scouts, Spencer participated in local camps, campouts in Colorado and many service projects. Service projects during his scouting career include Horn of Plenty food drives, North Garland Church of Christ’s food pantry and school supply drives, and helping put on Cub Scout pinewood derby and pushmobile races.
