ENID, Okla. —
Park Avenue Thrift will host its sixth annual open house Saturday.
The store will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served between 10 a.m. and noon. KOFM will be on hand during that time with a live remote. Santa will visit with children.
The winners, both students and teachers, of the fifth grade Enid Public Schools quilt block coloring contest will receive their awards at 10:30 a.m. Twenty-four teachers and 241 students in nine public schools entered the contest. More than $3,000 will be awarded in cash and gift certificates.
Margaret Moss, gallery curator, said all the winning entries will be on display in the Emerging Artists Gallery at Park Avenue Thrift through the end of December.
Park Avenue Thrift, located at 507 S. Grand, is a nonprofit thrift store with a mission of giving away 100 percent of its profit to community endeavors. Since opening Oct. 1, 2007, more than $865,000 has been given to other non-profits and events that make Enid the best community in Oklahoma. Donations of good used furniture, appliances, household goods, clothing and more are accepted 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
