ENID, Okla. —
Martie Oyler has been named 2012 Pillar of the Plains.
The award was created by the Enid News & Eagle and its community partners to honor people who have taken on tasks and projects to better the quality of life in the community.
She was one of five finalists for the honor, which was presented Thursday at Convention Hall. Other finalists were Gary Kirtley, Dr. David S. Russell and Larry and Rick Simpson.

Settlement reached in Zaloudek Grain auger accident
Brad Gungoll, the Oklahoma City lawyer representing the families of Tyler Zander and Bryce Gannon in a negligence lawsuit against Zaloudek Grain Co. and its shareholders, said Friday morning the agreement was reached about 10:30 p.m. Thursday during a court-ordered settlement conference held at Gungoll’s office.

Updated: Search and recovery ongoing for 17-year-old missing in creek
Authorities received a call about 7:25 p.m. Thursday reporting several kids jumping from the dam on the creek below the swinging bridge. The 17-year-old had jumped and went under and that was the last that was seen of him, Baker said.
