ENID, Okla. —
The casting call is out for middle school students from all around the area.
Students from any middle school can try out for a role in an upcoming musical at Waller Middle School.
Susan Vineyard, Waller speech and drama teacher, said “We the People!” will be presented Feb. 2.
There are lots of roles available in the musical.
“I’m looking for as many as I can possibly get,” Vineyard said. “I’d love to have 50.”
In the lively story line of the play, townspeople decide to put on a show and set about planning for it.
“The whole show is their conversation — what if we did this? What if we did that?” Vineyard said. “A committee is seated for the mayor’s idea to put on a patriotic play.”
The show has both speaking parts and a chorus — that’s why so many are needed to fill the ranks, Vineyard said.
“I’m opening it up so all middle school students in the area can be a part of this,” Vineyard said.
Auditions will be held Dec. 17 at Waller Auditorium, beginning at 4 p.m. and continuing until every child has tried out. Hopeful students should have a short song ready and be prepared to read a small portion from the script, Vineyard said.
Rehearsals will be 4-6 p.m. at Waller Auditorium starting Jan. 7. For more information, contact Susan Vineyard at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by calling (580) 366-7900.
All cast members will buy a T-shirt, which will be the costume for the show, Vineyard said.
