Enid Civitan Club to meet today

Blood drive on tap Wednesday
Golden Corral will partner with Oklahoma Blood Institute Wednesday for a blood drive. All healthy, Enid-area residents, age 17 and older, are encouraged to participate 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the bloodmobile parked at the restaurant, 4629 W. Garriott.
All donors will receive two tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo and a free T-shirt, along with free health screenings and a free buffet from Golden Corral.
SHRM is offering student scholarships
The local Enid chapter of Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) annually offers scholarships to local students pursuing education in the field of human resources or business administration.
The local group will award one scholarship of $500 for 2009-2010 for a student majoring in business administration or human resources. Another scholarship will aid a student who is attending Fundamentals of Human Resources class offered at Autry Technology Center. Students who are eligible for tuition reimbursement through their employment are not eligible for scholarships.

Democrats to have summer social Friday
Alfalfa County Democratic Party will have its fourth annual summer social at 6 p.m. Friday at Jet Community Center.
The list of guests includes state Sen. Kenneth Corn, a candidate for lieutenant governor; state auditor and inspector Steve Burrage; and newly appointed U.S. Department of Agriculture rural development director Ryan McMullen. Campaign representatives for Lt. Gov. Jari Askins and Attorney General Drew Edmondson also will attend.
Genealogists slated to meet Saturday
Garfield County Genealogists will meet at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Great Plains Room, second floor of Public Library of Enid and Garfield County, 120 W. Maine. Speaker will be Donna Lamb, noted genealogist from Drummond, who will share information about the lineage societies to which she belongs and also how many there are across the United States.

UPDATED photo- Silver Alert issued for missing Garfield County man
Garfield County authorities have issued a Silver Alert for an 88-year-old man who hasn’t been seen since leaving for church. The county sheriff’s office says Edward Sutter was last seen about 9:30 a.m. Sunday when he left home for 1st United Methodist Church in Enid. Sutter never arrived at the church. He was last seen driving a gray, 2003 Toyota Avalon. Authorities had initially said he was driving a Toyota Altima.
