Couple wanted in alleged grocery theft identified

ENID, Okla. — Police have identified a couple wanted for the role they played in the Wednesday theft of food from a local grocery store.

Enid Police Department Sgt. Dustin Albright said the man and woman were seen in surveillance video at Jumbo Foods, 2311 W. Willow. He said the department will file for charges against the pair. Police did not release the names of the two because no arrests were made.

EPD responded at 7:32 p.m. to a report of an alleged theft from Jumbo Foods, 2311 W. Willow. Police were told a man in a white Chevy pickup had stolen groceries from the store and left southbound on Cleveland.

An officer in the area searched for the vehicle, but was unable to locate the pickup.

The manager of the store said he saw a white male push a cart full of groceries, including several packages of meat, out of the store without paying. The manager followed the man and saw him throw the items into the back of a mid-1980s Chevy truck and leave the parking lot at high speed, possibly with a female passenger, according to an EPD report. The manager was unable to get the tag and did not know exactly what was taken other than a pork roast and several packages of meat. No estimated loss was listed in the report.
