ENID — Enid Public Schools Board of Education voted Monday evening to approve change orders for construction at Waller Middle School and Glenwood Elementary School; a recommendation to hire Architects in Partnership as the design firm for the D. Bruce Selby Stadium renovation project; and  appropriation of $2,780,000 in bond sale proceeds for the 2003 general purpose bond fund.

The Waller Middle School construction in the change order is that of special needs bathrooms and is being paid for through funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, better known as the stimulus plan. The other change orders approved were relating to bond issues and bond issue construction.

In his superintendent’s report, Superintendent Shawn Hime mentioned the district will be getting a new phone system and, through several installation phases over the next several years, all schools will be a part of the new system. With the new system, school employees now will have voicemail but also will be assigned new numbers.

During the meeting the board approved contracts for seven band consultants: Beth Salyers, Kaci Cisco, Corey Lopez, Angi Ko, Stuart Langsam, Evan Neal and Chris Markes. Beth Salyers will be the only consultant paid from the district’s general fund, said board clerk, Karl White. The other consultants will be paid out of the band’s activity fund.

Also approved were several contracts through which EPS provides services as a contractor to other agenices. Those agencies are Garfield County Juvenile Justice Detention Center, Liberty of Oklahoma Corp., SEI Enid and Integris Bass Baptist Behavioral Health.

Harris Computer Corp, eTritionWare, online credit payments for school meals; and Youth and Family Services, professional counseling.

All outsourcing contracts approved were renewals except for the contract with N. Harris Computer Corp. According to White, this contract will allow for the 2010-2011 school year to be the first-year parents will be able to pay for student meals online with a credit card.

The board approved appointing Pamela Buckminster as school district treasurer and Buckminster, Jim Beierschmitt and Kerry Hill as custodians of the Enid High School activity fund.

The extension of statutory waivers of certification for library medial specialists Karla Johnson and Susan Shewey were also approved.

The board decided not to go into executive session and without discussion approved the employment of Jennifer Brown, Linda Austin, Beth Kelly, Becky Munday, Amanda Smith, Dawn McVey and Terry Scoggins.

Retirement notifications included those of Roberta Nehring, Floyd Pollet and Karen Pollet.
