Garfield County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Covington woman Wednesday afternoon on complaints of marijuana cultivation and possession.
Undersheriff Jerry Niles said the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office were alerted to the growing of the marijuana plants in the backyard of a home in the 200 block of West Monroe by Covington City Hall, who were notified by an anonymous source.
Deputies responded to the home and located the three marijuana plants outside and obtained a search warrant for the home, where marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found. Terrie Gal, 49, was arrested on complaints of cultivation, simple possession and possession of paraphernalia.
Niles said the three plants were found in the garden of the home. Gal said she thought she was growing Egyptian herbs as part of an organic garden. Tests however confirmed the plants were marijuana.
