ENID —
The newly renovated Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center was honored for its exhibit interactivity during the 2011 Oklahoma Museums Association annual fall conference.
The museum was awarded the Outstanding Interpreted Exhibit in the $100,000 to $499,000 category. Andi Holland, Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center director, said the award was based on the way the exhibits use interactivity to tell stories. Holland said this was accomplished by having items to read and flip in the exhibit, among others.
“It is all about involving visitors in the learning process,” Holland said.
She said the conference, which was held in Claremore, presented information on making visitors’ experiences better by engaging them.
“It is nice to be recognized by the association and the state,” Holland said. “It is a confirmation that we are doing the right things.”
