Enid man in critical condition following accident

ENID, Okla. — A 41-year-old Enid man is in critical condition following a collision Wednesday night in the 1500 block of West Oklahoma.

Enid Police Department Capt. Jack Morris said Montra Smith was found in a 1996 Nissan pickup that had struck a tree when officers responded to an 8:40 p.m. 911 call reporting an injury accident.

Officers, along with Enid Fire Department and Life EMS personnel, found Smith suffered a head injury due to the accident and did not have a pulse, Morris said.

Emergency responders began administering CPR, and Smith was transported to Integris Bass Baptist Health Center by Life EMS.

Officer Casey Von Schriltz, with the department’s traffic division, noted an odor of alcohol on Smith’s person during his investigation, Morris said.

Von Schriltz found Smith was westbound on West Oklahoma when he crossed left of center and hit a legally parked unoccupied car on the southwest side of the street.

Smith continued west in his pickup after striking the vehicle before leaving the road to the west and striking a tree.

Smith remains at the hospital in critical condition.

The collision remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
