ENID, Okla. —
The fifth annual Warren Edds Memorial Chiller Challenge will be Saturday.
The event, a fundraiser for Area 6 Special Olympics, was postponed from March 2 because of issues related to last week’s blizzard.
This year, a 5K fun run is scheduled before the dash into the water. A breakfast of cinnamon rolls, pancakes, biscuits and juice will be served to participants before the dash.
The event will be held at Crosslin Park lake on the northeast side of the lake. Awaken the Fire Church, 3320 N. Van Buren, has offered its building for registration, breakfast, changing rooms and parking.
Organizers ask participants to collect at least $50 in donations from friends, family and co-workers. Prizes will be given for those with the most donations and for the costume contest. Local businesses have donated certificates and prizes to be drawn for participants.
Final registration for the fun run will be at 7 a.m. Saturday, and the race will start thereafter.
Breakfast for participants, final registration for the dash and splash will be at 8 a.m. Costume awards will be given at 9 a.m., and the plunge is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. at the water’s edge.
Yes We Can Civitan Club was formed to involve those with disabilities more within the Enid community. It is not just for those with disabilities, anyone can become a member.
The club meets 5:30 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at Wooden Nickel, 400 W. Walnut. For information on the club, call Larry Brummal at 234-2891 or Kathy Eck at 237-3630.
