ENID, Okla. —
The Public Library of Enid and Garfield County will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’ 109th birthday Friday with an evening of free family activities.
The birthday celebration will begin at 5 p.m. and will include story time, a book walk, prize drawings, activity sheets, and an appearance by the Cat in the Hat.
Story time will include songs and activities to go with the Dr. Seuss stories, and Seuss-inspired movies also will be shown.
Guests will have the chance to spin a Dr. Seuss prize wheel for Seuss-themed prizes.
Jade Powell, supervisory librarian of public services, said the Dr. Seuss celebration is a great way to promote childhood reading, and is an annual event at the library.
“People of all ages love Dr. Seuss, and we use this to promote literacy throughout the community,” Powell said. “This makes it fun, and it’s definitely an activity for the whole family.”
