A 29-year-old Waukomis man was arraigned Thursday on charges involving the sexual abuse of a girl.
Rance Ezra Xavier Cambron was arraigned Thursday on two counts of lewd acts upon a child under 16 and two counts of forcible sodomy.
According to the charges, the incidents occurred initially in April 2009, when the girl was 6 years old and again in February, when the girl was 7 years old.
An investigation by Garfield County Deputy Shawna Cornish began when the sheriff’s office was contacted by Child Welfare Office, which received the information through a Department of Human Services hotline. School officials also reported the information after the girl shared what had happened with some of her classmates.
Cambron, who appeared via video Thursday in Garfield County District Court, faces one to 20 years for each count of lewd acts upon a child and up to years for each count of forcible sodomy.
Cambron’s bond was set at $250,000, with a condition he remain away from children under the age of 16 and the alleged victim in this case.
He was ordered to return to court May 17 for a bond appearance.
