Autry Technology Center is sending 11 students to national competitions after they excelled at regional competition.
Milly Aragonez and Brooke Wilkinson, both of Enid, grabbed top honors in the statewide Health Occupations Students of America contest. The pair took first place in medical assisting and dental assisting and now advance to the National Leadership Contest June 22-25 at Anaheim, Calif.
Nine students did well enough at the SkillsUSA competition they now head to the National Leadership and Skills Contest June 19-24 in Kansas City, Mo.
They are: Joni Sandick, Enid, hair; Courtney McGinnis, Enid, nails; Major Stokes, Enid, food and beverage service; Briana Gordon, Waukomis, and Garrett Baker, Enid, web design team; Blake Lara, Lahoma, and Austin Hubbart, Bison, mechatronics technology team; Scott Gore, Enid, motorcycle service technology; and Eric Hagan, Enid, customer service.
Christian Collins, Enid, was elected as Oklahoma SkillsUSA parliamentarian.
Laura Lane and Betty Furmage, both of Enid, recently attended the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. Lane placed fourth in computerized accounting, and Furmage placed fifth in payroll. More than 5,000 students competed.
“We are excited our students have the opportunity to showcase their talent at the national level,” said Jeremy Eaton, director of student activities at Autry Tech. “These wins are a true testament to their dedication and the training they receive at Autry.”
