A Longdale teen was killed Wednesday in an single-vehicle accident in Blaine County, Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Anthonny Alexander Pembrook, 17, was traveling northbound on county road Louie’s Lane about 12:01 a.m. when his 2004 Dodge pickup lost control and left the road to the east, striking a tree and then a telephone pole on the driver’s side, according to an OHP report.
Pembrook was trapped for about 30 minutes before being removed by rescue workers.
He was taken by ambulance to Okeene Municipal Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival due to internal injuries.
Pembrook’s passengers, Autum Rose Grothe, 15, of Canton, and Ethan Cole Howerton, 17, of Tulsa, also were taken to Okeene Municipal Hospital. Both were treated and released, the patrol reported.
According to OHP, seat belts were not in use and the truck’s airbags did not deploy.
Pembrook’s condition was listed as “apparently normal” and the weather conditions were cloudy with ice/frost on the roadway.
Unsafe speed for ice or snow on roadway is listed as the cause of the accident.
