Former employee at Alva State Bank gets 33 months in federal prison

A former Alva State Bank and Trust Co. officer was sentenced Tuesday to 33 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to bank fraud.

Mark A. Nickelson, 53, of Waynoka, was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange for defrauding the bank. He also was ordered to serve three years supervised release, perform 100 hours of community service and to pay $261,661.72 in restitution.

Nickelson, who was an assistant vice president at the bank, pleaded guilty on April 10.

Evidence submitted to the court showed Nickelson made numerous false statements to the bank in connection with loans he secured from the bank.

He was ordered to report to the Bureau of Prisons no later than Jan. 22 to begin serving his sentence.
