Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Fairview recently offered the Fairview community a free chili and stew dinner at the county fair building and more than 500 people were fed.
All of the bank employees pitched in to help serve the meal, catered by Keck’s Feedlot.

Farmers and Merchants will celebrate its 100th year as a national bank in 2010. The bank was founded in 1907 and became a national bank in 1910 when the Bower family purchased controlling stock. Of the seven banks that have opened in Fairview, it is the only one that has survived over the years.

Fairview’s Scout units joined together to do Christmas caroling around town Dec. 14. Throughout the week, various church youth groups did the same.

Fairview Lions Club has been gathering and packaging food for delivery to needy families in the area. This is a regular holiday event for the club.
