Covington school property is allowed to be rented, says board

Covington-Douglas Board of Education members voted Dec. 16 to amend the policy dealing with district-owned rental property.

The change allows school property to be rented for a short-term basis to non-school employees if it is not needed by a school employee.

First Bank and Trust of Covington had its annual Christmas open house Dec. 9. Prizes were won by Christy Smith, Christmas wreath; Linda Postier, $25 gift certificate to Covington General Store; Mary Barnes, $25 to Dairy Sweet; and Rhonda Stienert, a Dr. Chicken gift certificate.

Charles Gopfert cut out wooden Christmas trees and presents for table decorations. Jean Beeby’s art class painted and decorated them.

Hopewell Club met Dec. 15 at Tri-County Senior Center for lunch with Evelyn Clodfelter as hostess. The club purchased a gift for a child on the Angel Tree at the local bank.

Home and School Club met Dec. 15 in the home of Sherri Brooks for lunch. Christmas gifts were exchanged and secret pals were revealed. The club purchased a gift for a child on the Angel Tree at the local bank.

Covington Town Board met Dec. 2 and voted to enter a loan with First Bank and Trust of Covington for the purchase of a 1996 JD 310 Backhoe.



Church



The Charlie Seelen family, missionaries from the International Mission Board on furlough from Japan, will be guest speakers at 6 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church.
