A FedEx Express truck driver was injured after his truck struck a 2,000 pound black Angus bull Thursday evening on U.S. 412 east of Enid.
“The FedEx truck was eastbound on 412,” said Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Steve Sparks. “He struck the bull that is now dead in the center median. He came across the median and the westbound lanes. He rolled a quarter of a time.”
The truck came to a rest on its passenger side on the shoulder facing west. The driver was transported to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center with hip and back injuries, Sparks said. His condition was not known Thursday night.
The owner of the bull, Lee Garton of Garber, came to pick it up. He said he was not sure how the bull got out and he had men checking the fence. Garton estimated the bull’s value at around $4,000.
“We are concerned if the guy is going to be OK. Animals are replaceable, people are not,” Garton said.
Another FedEx Express truck arrived and packages were unloaded from the wrecked truck.
