A longtime show featuring safety tips and hosted by a former Enid Fire Department assistant fire marshal has returned to PEGASYS.
“For Your Own Safety,” hosted by Bill Presley, was filming Friday afternoon at director Sherry Stotts’ home.
The episode being filmed, concerning fire safety, features Fire Marshal Ken Helms and will air next month.
“The reason this started back is because of this woman right here,” Presley said, pointing to Stotts.
He said she approached him at an Enid High School football game and suggested starting the show up again.
“She said she was willing to direct the ‘For Your Own Safety’ videos and it went from there,” he said.
Stotts said she approached Presley to do the show again because of the safety issues she’s come across being a stay-at-home mom.
“I have five kids and there are a lot of safety issues that come along,” Stotts said. “It’s all still very important information.”
Presley said the shows focus on safety topics that are generally seasonally related, but most topic focus on safety for families.
“A lot of times we’ll get an idea and we’ll also ask someone to be a guest,” he said. “People rarely don’t want to be a part of it.”
The show currently running on PEGASYS features tips about traffic safety and Enid Police Department Sgt. Randy King as its guest.
“If someone has a topic they’d like us to cover we’re certainly receptive,” Stotts said.
Presley said show times will vary until “For Your Own Safety” can be worked into a regular programming schedule.
