RSVP ornaments nearly gone

Retired and Senior Volun-teer Program’s third annual H. Holden Christmas ornaments are almost gone.

RSVP is selling Christmas ornaments, giving everyone the chance to own their own piece of artwork by H. Holden, a Kremlin western artist.

“We have about 100 (ornaments left). They are going fast. I wouldn’t hesitate to tell someone if they are planning to buy one to come on in,” said Bennie Mullins, RSVP director.

“It is called ‘The Christ-mas Colt.’ It is a solid pewter ornament. It is really pretty,” Mullins said. “They have already become collector items. This is an opportunity for everyone to own a piece of H’s work.”

The ornament is three-dimensional and solid pewter. The front depicts the colt, and the reverse side has the name of the ornament, the year and that it is made by Holden. It comes in a red, velvety pouch.

Only 800 ornaments were made this year exclusively for RSVP by Holden. In 2007, RSVP sold out and only a few 2008 ornaments are available. The 2008 ornament is titled “Christmas on Chisholm Trail.” It depicts a longhorn steer with a SC brand, for Santa Claus, a red nose and red ornaments on its horns, with the title on the reverse side.

The 2009 ornament can be purchased for $20 each, and 2008 ornaments are available for $10.

“Now is the time to come in and get them,” Mullins said.

Proceeds will go to benefit RSVP programs and are tax deductible.

The ornaments are available at the RSVP information center and also will be sold at Way Out West, SoapWeeds and Cactus and Holden Art and Law.

RSVP information center is on the southwest corner of Garriott and Van Buren. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Call 233-5914 for information.
