Contest winners named

Cimarron Valley Conser-vation District holds a yearly poster contest. This year’s theme was “Dig It: The Secrets of the Soil.” Okeene elementary and high school students participated in this contest.

Elementary winners were: Kindergarten — Jackson Feely, first, and Lauren Luckie, second; first grade — Bryson Jinkens, first, and Miles Howe, second; second grade — Colby Carter, first, and Gabriela Resendiz, second; third grade — Taylor Biggs, first, and Alek Winter, second; fourth grade — Kailtlyn Jordan, first, and Craig Westfahl, second; fifth grade — Trey Brown, first, and Blake Bedwell, second; sixth grade, Erin Cusack, first, and Makenzi Howe, second; special education — Heather Boeckman, first, and Jackie Recio, second.

High school winners were: Freshmen — Cheyenne Hagg, first, and Zachary Cannon, second; sophomores — Bret Wardlaw, first, and Lorena Totty, second; juniors — Dylan Rodriquez, first, and Kyle Boeckman, second; seniors — Raechyl Nault, first, and Tanner Heffel, second; special education — Kane Boeckman.

Medallions and gift certificates were presented to the winners of all divisions. Presenting the awards were Mary Rusch and Alan Iven of the local soil office.

Kris Osmus’ kindergarten class participated in a Veterans Day Flag Coloring Contest sponsored by First National Bank of Okeene. Winner of the contest was Jackson Feely. He received a $1 bill and gift bag.

Loretta Doak’s first grade class will hold their annual Thanksgiving feast Tuesday.

 

Community

Keith Richardson was recently presented a plaque by Mayor Willard Browns-worth at a regular board meeting.

Richardson was honored for working for the town of Okeene for the past 30 years. Keith is a volunteer bus driver for Okeene Public Schools during sporting seasons.
