Police arrest man for Turf Bar stabbing

By Cass Rains, Staff Writer

Police have arrested a man in the Tuesday evening stabbing outside the Turf Bar.

William D. “Bill” Jones, 46, went to Enid Police Department shortly after midnight Thursday to speak with investigators. Following the interview, Jones was arrested without incident on a complaint of assault with a a deadly weapon.

Dusty McFarland, Jones’ alleged victim in the attack, remains in guarded condition at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, where he underwent surgery for stab wounds to his stomach and abdomen.

The stabbing occurred about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday at the bar, 213 E. Maine, after Jones and his girlfriend entered the bar pushing a baby stroller.

According to police, a bar employee told the two they could not come in with a baby and the two left, returning a few minutes later again pushing the stroller. Again the bar employee told them they could not come in, and they lifted the blanket showing there was no child in the stroller and commented they left the baby “down the street.”

McFarland went outside to look for the baby but did not find it, according to police. Jones and his girlfriend exchanged some words and she left the bar with a female acquaintance of McFarland’s. McFarland and Jones followed the women outside. The women exchanged some words, and Jones attacked McFarland with a knife and a struggle between the men ensued, according to police.

EPD Capt. Dean Grassino said the investigation is ongoing as investigators finish processing evidence and completing interviews. The case will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office.
