Hobby Lobby is expanding and remodeling with an additional 9,000 square feet of space.
Buddy Nicholas of Nicholas Real Estate, said the store is expanding into part of the former Goody’s location, and the entire store is in the process of being remodeled.
Store Manager Matt Sampson said there will be new lighting and flooring as well as fixtures moved and inventory increased.
“We’re putting in new lights, and giving the store an updated look, and we’re going to add two register stations,” Sampson said.
One of the major improvements will be to lower some merchandise that now is on the top shelf, and additional merchandise will be located in the seasonal section because of new counters and shelving.
Home accents, wall decor and ceramics will be the biggest change in inventory. Sampson said those items are very popular now. He said the new design will be a big advantage for shoppers. The store will remain open during the construction. Nicholas said two shifts are working in the store every day.
Sampson said construction is nearing the end, and he hopes to be finished with the new tile project by this weekend. He hopes all construction will be done by Thanksgiving.
Nicholas said the total size of the old Goody’s store is 25,000 square feet and with the expansion of Hobby Lobby, about 15,000 square feet of retail space will remain. Nicholas said a number of retail businesses are interested in the remaining footage.
