Airmen and civilians at Vance Air Force Base observed a few moments of silence at 1:34 p.m. Friday in honor of the victims of Thursday’s shootings at Fort Hood and their families.
“It’s an important way to come together as a community and think about them and say a prayer for their families and their souls,” said Col. Chris Nowland, 71st Flying Training Wing commander.
Defense Secretary Robert Gates directed the moment of silence throughout the Department of Defense in response to Thursday’s attack.
