A new guitar program is taking flight at Emerson Middle School and Enid High School but funding still is needed.
Lead Guitar is a program that gives students the opportunity to study classical guitar, something they can’t learn in band or orchestra. Program officials stay involved at each school until the school’s classical guitar program is self-sufficient.
A fundraiser will be held at Costello’s Continental Cuisine at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets for the event are $75 for an evening of dinner, drinks, a guitar concert by Brad Richter and a CD.
Richter is a professional classical guitarist who is involved in Enid’s Lead Guitar program. He is an Enid High School graduate and lives in Tucson, Ariz.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to support Enid’s classical guitar music program.
The program was brought to Enid through a collaboration of Enid Public Schools and Enid Arts with support from the Oklahoma Arts Council.
To purchase tickets to the fundraiser call 548-5400.
