• Nov. 2 — Full moon (Hunter’s Moon, Frosty Moon, Beaver Moon).
• Nov. 9 — Last quarter.
• Nov. 16 — New moon.
• Nov. 24 — First quarter.

The peak of the Leonid meteor shower will be Nov. 17 and 18, and it looks like a very favorable year for this sometimes huge shower. There will be a new moon, making perfect viewing conditions unless the weather is bad.
Leonids approach Earth virtually head-on, so they are extremely swift, often bright and 50-70 percent leave persistent trains.

Leonardo’s Star Quest Astronomy Club meets the second Tuesday night of the month at Leonardo’s Discovery Warehouse, 200 E. Maple, and the fourth Tuesday at Northern Oklahoma College Enid observatory. Sessions start at 7 p.m.

Every Wednesday and Thursday, weather permitting, the NOC Enid observatory will be open to the public. Sessions start at 7 p.m. Large groups planning to visit should call 548-2399 to schedule an appointment.
