Many Kremlin-Hillsdale Public Schools teachers were pleasantly surprised Wednesday as Kremlin-Hillsdale Academic Enrich-ment Foundation presented $13,584.46 in grants for various projects and classroom activities throughout the district.
The foundation has been giving teacher grants since 2002, and this is the second year the foundation was able to fund every grant requested, said Connie Bittle, foundation board reporter.
The foundation began raising funds in 2001 and has raised more than $155,000 since then. Half of the funds raised are invested in a permanent endowment in order to ensure funding assistance for teachers for years to come.
“Public schools need their local supporters to step up financially and with their time to help provide excellence in our schools,” said Mike Riddle, foundation board president.
The foundation’s fund-raisers have been successful due to a large amount of support from district patrons.
“Generating support and involvement has been easy at Kremlin-Hillsdale,” Riddle said. “People love to support the school here.”
Teachers rec-eiving grants from the foundations Wednesday were Charlotte Lieser, Kasey McCoy, Brent Hendrix, Nichole Rihn, Kaylene Toelle, Heather Carson, Jennie Meyer, David Campbell, Jamelyn Schultz, Angie Reinschmidt, Sharon Riddle, Gina Pekrul, Heather Russell, Roger Gossen and Karen Miles.
A grant also was awarded to all elementary teachers for a total of $743.84 for the purchase of SMART Board speakers.
