Early childhood summit slated
A free early childhood development summit will be held Nov. 18 at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford. The event is open to the public.
Registration is required for the event, but there is no registration fee and lunch will be provided for the event which begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Conference Center, 7th Street and Davis.
Featured speakers will include Lieutenant Gov. Jari Askins; State Rep. Harold Wright; Pat Potts, president of Potts Family Foundation; Robert Harbison of Lawton; Dale Wares, childcare program manager of Oklahoma Department of Human Service; Kimberley Kelly, SWOSU early childhood education teacher; Kathie Price, director of Southwest Oklahoma Workforce Investment Board; Paula Waters, director of Smart Start in Enid; Betty Porter, director of Great Plains Child Care Resource and Referral; Vicki Rexroat from Caddo-Kiowa Technology Center childcare training program; and Doug Misak, director of Small Business Development Center in Weatherford.

UPDATED photo- Silver Alert issued for missing Garfield County man
Garfield County authorities have issued a Silver Alert for an 88-year-old man who hasn’t been seen since leaving for church. The county sheriff’s office says Edward Sutter was last seen about 9:30 a.m. Sunday when he left home for 1st United Methodist Church in Enid. Sutter never arrived at the church. He was last seen driving a gray, 2003 Toyota Avalon. Authorities had initially said he was driving a Toyota Altima.
