A 68-year-old man who admitted to having sex with and molesting a 12- or 13-year-old girl more than 25 years ago was arraigned Thursday in Garfield County District Court.
Gary G. Rice was arraigned on two counts of second-degree rape and two counts of lewd molestation
Each count of second-degree rape is punishable by one to 15 years in prison and each count of molestation is punishable by three to 20 years.
According to an affidavit filed in the case, police received a report from a 42-year-old woman Sept. 15 who said she was sexually assaulted in 1982 and 1983 by Rice while living in Enid.
The woman told police Rice was a family friend and she also knew him from visiting Shamrock Bowl and Oakwood Bowl. She said Rice as-saulted her twice at her home, once at his home and once at the Trail Motel. She said the assaults occurred sometime between 1982 and 1983.
On Oct. 15 detectives went to Oakwood Bowl to speak to Rice. He told police he had become “involved” with the woman and the two were sexually active with each other.
He told detectives at the time he thought the woman was 12 or 13 and they “had done just about everything,” according to the affidavit. Rice corroborated the woman’s story, admitting to the four incidents the woman told police about.
Rice’s bond was set at $25,000, with a condition of his bond being he remain away from the woman and have no contact with her. He was ordered to return to court Dec. 7 for a bond appearance.
