Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center will host Sandie Olson, director of Waynoka Historical Society, for its Brown Bag lecture Wednesday.
Olson will describe the work of the Waynoka community in saving and restoring the historic Harvey House, the adjacent Santa Fe Depot and other structures now located on the grounds of Waynoka Historical Society.
She will explain the process of the restoration of the Harvey House a decade ago and the ongoing work on the Santa Fe Depot, both of which are listed on National Register of Historic Places. She also will describe the fundraising efforts of local residents who have secured assistance from Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the state Centennial Commission and corporate and private donors.
This illustrated presentation will be at noon in the church at Humphrey Heritage Village. The lecture is open and free to the public.
