Garrett Detrixhe was chosen as a regional 1-Act all-star in participation with the play “The Brothers Grimm” at the regional competition held at Fairview.
Detrixhe also was chosen to be part of the regional all-star cast, an award presented to only 10 actors chosen from all the plays performed.
His speech coach is Ginny Dobrinski and he is the son of David and Lisa Detrixhe of Okeene.

Okeene School Found-ation awarded $3,9887.26 in grants this year.
Teachers receiving grants are Ada Dyer, Kris Osmus, Rhonda Heckart, Henri Blehm, Kiley Feely, Cheryl Boeckman, Ginny Dobrinski, Mark Fuller, Mike Jones, Tara Fisher, Jane Nusz, Shane Feely and Jana Schultz.

Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes will travel to Hydro to visit a pumpkin patch. The bus leaves at 8:20 a.m. Monday.

A Smart Board meeting will be held for all teachers at the school 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Okeene high school faculty will meet at 8 a.m. Oct. 22 while the elementary faculty will meet at 8 a.m. Oct. 23.

Okeene Elementary honor roll assembly will be held at the school auditorium beginning at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 23.

The high school football team will travel to Hennessey for a game at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23.

Okeene’s 4-H Club will go the PBar Farm Cornmaze Oct. 24. They leave at 9 a.m.
Community
The town of Okeene is hosting a blood drive Oct. 22.
The drive is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Masonic Lodge, 105 E. Madison, Okeene. Donors will receive their choice of a free University of Oklahoma or an Oklahoma State University blood donor T-shirt.

The department of medical imaging at Radiation Sciences College of Allied Health in Oklahoma City recently held a white coat ceremony.
Receiving her white coat was Jessica Leal, a graduate of Okeene High School.
