Church to host hayrack ride
Covington United Methodist Church will hold a hayrack ride and wiener roast at 4 p.m. Sunday at the home of Dennis and Wanda Fischer.

Covington-Douglas FCCLA installed new officers this year: Hannah Nelson, president; Odessa Whitmire, vice president; Jeff Carpenter, secretary; Kesley McColgin, parliamentary; Becca Faubion, reporter; and Katie Houst-on, historian.

FCCLA officers made a homecoming meal of spaghetti, garlic bread and desserts Oct. 2 for the Covington-Douglas faculty, cheerleaders, football players and the coaching staff.

The FCCLA chapter has decided to collect used ink cartridges and old cell phones in the month of October to help raise breast cancer awareness. Leave donations in the FCCLA room.

Covington-Douglas’ seventh- and eighth-grade football team will host Waukomis at 6 p.m. Monday.

Covington-Douglas academic team will participate in a meet at 7 p.m. Monday in Kremlin.

Covington-Douglas fifth-graders will take a field trip to Salt Plains Monday.

The fifth- and sixth-grade football team will travel to Garber with game time at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The high school football team will travel to Deer Creek-Lamont with game time at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The cross country team will participate in the regional meet Oct. 17 at Chisholm.
Community
Home and School Club met for lunch Tuesday at the Tri County Senior Center.
The group will meet again in November at the center.
Club members are to bring non-perishable food items to be given to the local food pantry.
The food pantry is located at the Methodist Church and helps provide food to needy families in the Covington area.

UPDATED photo- Silver Alert issued for missing Garfield County man
Garfield County authorities have issued a Silver Alert for an 88-year-old man who hasn’t been seen since leaving for church. The county sheriff’s office says Edward Sutter was last seen about 9:30 a.m. Sunday when he left home for 1st United Methodist Church in Enid. Sutter never arrived at the church. He was last seen driving a gray, 2003 Toyota Avalon. Authorities had initially said he was driving a Toyota Altima.
