YFS grand opening on tap today

The staff and board of Youth and Family Services of North Central Oklahoma will celebrate the grand opening of the Thelma J. Gungoll Youth and Family Center at 5:30 p.m. today.

The facility, located at 605 W. Oxford, will be open to the public until 7:30 p.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.

The new center was made possible by local donations and community volunteers.

ÒThe board of directors and staff would like to say thank you to all the community members who helped make this resource available to the families of the Enid area,Ó said Justin Simmons, executive director. ÒYouth and Family Services is proud to be a United Way member agency. Together we can grow healthy families and a stronger community.Ó

Youth and Family Services is a private, not-for-profit social service agency founded in 1974 in Enid by Thelma J. Gungoll.

The agency provides a youth shelter as well as mental health and substance abuse counseling services and therapeutic foster care to more than 1,000 individuals and families each year in the Enid and surrounding areas, including Garfield, Grant and Major counties.
