Winning ticket still has not been turned in

A winning $1 million Powerball ticket bought in Enid still hasn’t been turned in, according to Oklahoma Lot-tery Commission.

The ticket, which was for the Sept. 26 Powerball game, was bought at Buck’s Party Shop, 13201⁄2 S. Van Buren.

According to Oklahoma Lottery Commission records, the last time a Powerball ticket resulted in a $1 million win in Oklahoma was June 16. That one was claimed by Allen Passmore, of Duncan.

Merry Lee Nafus, owner of Buck’s, said she called the lottery commission Tuesday afternoon. They confirmed to her nobody has contacted them about the prize.

The winning person doesn’t have to notify her, Nafus said, but she’s eager to find out who it was.

Ever since the news came out someone, somewhere had won $1 million at Buck’s, regular customers have been double-checking their tickets, Nafus said.

“Most of my regulars have come in and said, ‘I wish it was me,’” Nafus said.

While it’s easy to keep track of which of her regular customers bought tickets for the Sept. 16 drawing, Nafus said there are some who buy tickets in bulk, up to 10 at a time. Or, it may not even be a regular customer.

The news of the Powerball ticket has been a positive impact for Buck’s, though.

“I’ve definitely sold a lot more tickets in the past week,” Nafus said. “Not just Power-ball tickets but scratch-off (tickets). It’s been a boost to my business.”

The winner has until March 25, 2010, to claim the prize. He or she can do so by visiting one of 14 authorized lottery claim centers in the state. The closest center to Enid is in Perry.

Prizes also can be claimed by mail. A claim form can be downloaded from www.lot tery.ok.gov and mailed to the address listed on the Web site.
