The annual Wheat Country Festival, sponsored by Billings Chamber of Commerce, will be held Saturday in downtown Billings.
“Admission is free with the promise of something for everyone,” said festival director Becky Hammock.
The day will begin with Rotary Club pancake breakfast served 7-9 a.m. in Billings Community Build-ing. The all-you-can-eat breakfast menu includes pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy and coffee or juice. Proceeds provide scholarships for Billings High School seniors.
Opening ceremonies start at 9 a.m. “The Cute Kid Revue” will be held at 10 a.m. and entry forms are available at Main Street Café, First Bank & Trust and Rush’s. A pie and cake auction, sponsored by the Billings Town & Country-Oklahoma Home & Community Education Ladies group, will be held immediately following the revue.
Billings Historical Society will offer free tours of the Renfrow-Miller Museum and the Henry Bellmon Museum and Library throughout the day. Billings Historical Society also will be selling homemade bread and sand plum jelly.
An old tractor and auto parade will be held following the pie and cake auction. Parade entries, large or small, are welcome. Call Hammock at (580) 725-3589 or (580) 370-0782.
This year, the Oklahoma Garden Tractor Pull is 12:30-3:30 p.m. It will be held at the softball field on the west end of Main Street.
There will be many games throughout the day for young and old alike with a blow-up “Iron Man” course, turtle and frog races and bingo. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places in the frog and turtle races.
