DCLA homecoming is slated for Friday

Homecoming will be Friday. A Homecoming pep rally and parade will be at 2:20 p.m. Coronation is 6:45 p.m. with the game at 7. Homecoming dance is 9 to midnight. Homecoming candidates are: queen candidates – seniors, Mindy Blaser, Jill Hobbs and Sarah Coufal) and junior (Rachel Kirby); king candidates – seniors (Derric Richards and Chad Mendenhall), juniors (Hunter Whitehead and Levi Reese). Flower girl is Adriahna Blackburn and the crown bearer is Palladin Compala.

The Deer Creek-Lamont 4-H and FFA Boosters also will be doing a chicken noodle dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria, sponsored by the Chikaskia Masonic Lodge 109. Donations will be accepted.

Some DCLA girls have co-oped with the Medford softball team. They are Courtney Kirby, Katy Starr, Haley Stacy and Bennett Shipley. They will be playing in the District Softball Tournament at Pond Creek – Hunter at 1 p.m. today.

The 4-H and FFA students participated in the Grant County Fair held Sept. 11 and 12. Results are: hogs – Lawson Thompson (Reserve Champion Hamp) and Morgan Thompson (Champ-ion Cross); doe goats – Alexia Pennington (1st place, class 1 and 2nd place, class 1), Gavin Dirham (3rd place, class 2 and reserve grand doe) and Brian Dirham (1st place, class 4); weather goats – Dovie Yarbrough (1st place, class 4), Brendan Hembree (3rd place, class 1), Madison Hembree (5th place class 1), Monica Dirham (1st place, class 5) and Cody Williams (2nd place, class 2); lambs – Kolton Schuelien (Champion Hamp Lamb, Champion Pure Color Lamb, Champion Cross Lamb, Grand Market Lamb and Reserve Grand Market Lamb); heifers – Molly Blaser (1st place, Hereford and Champion Hereford Heifer) and Breagan Tebow (2nd place Hereford, Review Champion Hereford Heifer, 1st Maintainer and Champion Maintainer Heifer); steers – Mindy Blaser (1st and Champion Main Steer and 1st Cross Steer).

Deer Creek-Lamont School is doing a Good Search project. When you go to www.GoodSearch.com, you enter the school name in the box below where it says “Who do you goodsearch for?” and every time you use their Web site to search, they will donate to our school.

The PTO is going to have a fall carnival from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 22 with a meal at 6. Any group who is interested in doing a game booth needs to contact one of the PTO members. The next meeting is 7 pm. Oct. 1 in the Deer Creek cafeteria.

The elementary will be starting their 21st Century after school program beginning on Monday. The schedule will be Mondays, piano keyboarding/activity 3:30-4:30; Tuesdays and Thurs-days will be everyone from 3:30-4:30; and Wednesday will be for students who need tutoring and also quiz bowl for 4th and 6th grades.

Church

The Lamont United Methodist Church will begin their Fireproof study at 6 p.m. Sunday with the movie “Fireproof.” The 6-week study will begin at 6 p.m. Oct. 11. Nursery will be provided. The youth group also will be doing a mission meal right after services on Sunday.

The Baptist Church in Lamont has a Team Kid project going on. Any child from 6 years old to the 6th grade is encouraged to come. They meet at the Baptist Church in Lamont every Sunday from 7-8:15 p.m. For more information, contact Glenn or Sybil Webster.
