Blood drives Sunday at 2 churches in Enid

Enid churches are hosting separate blood donation drives Sunday in conjunction with Northwest Oklahoma Blood Institute.

Drives will be 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church fellowship hall, 401 W. Randolph, and noon to 3 p.m. in the Garland Road Baptist Church fellowship hall, 2002 N. Garland.

Healthy individuals who are 17 and older can participate.

“During the summer months, many Oklahomans who regularly donate are away on vacation or busy with other summer activities,” said Dr. John Armi-tage, OBI president and chief executive. “But pa-tients’ needs and emergencies never take a break.”

He said that is why local drives such as those Sunday are important.

Donors will receive two tickets to Oklahoma City Zoo and a free T-shirt, along with free health screenings and Members for Life points to redeem at OBI’s online store.

Donations can be made every 56 days. OBI provides blood used by Integris Bass Bap-tist Health Center and St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, as well as most other hospitals statewide.

Those unable to participate in the church drives may donate 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at NWOBI, 301 E. Cherokee. Call 233-9323 or (800) 299-9323 for information.
